One Simple Idea Could PAY for your trip to the CCS Winter Seminar!

Like many photographers around the country you’re probably thinking that you’d love to attend the Candid Color Systems Winter Seminar in Las Vegas at the end of January, but your bank account is depleted and you still have bills to pay from the Christmas holidays that just made a hasty exit.

Financial barriers are just that—a barrier; a hurdle; an obstacle that can be overcome in time.  You are not alone, of course, as many feel the same way at this time of year with regard to their financial status. But the question you need to ask yourself is this: Is it better to pass up the meeting and do nothing to move my business forward; or, is there something that I could learn at the winter seminar that, when properly implemented, would pay for my trip?

Here is a perfect example of what I am talking about.  A few years back a CCS customer from Texas attended one of our meetings and discovered the value of an email campaign when properly executed.  Recently, I had the opportunity to check back with this customer to find out how things were working out for his business, specifically related to the use of emails in promoting his business and photo products. This is what he told me.

Around Thanksgiving he sent an email out in late November to 39,000 customers whose email addresses he had collected during 2011 at the many special events that he had shot during the year; and harvested as they entered his website. This email promoted Christmas cards and also the use of photos as gifts.  Additionally, on December 7th he initiated a second email campaign to 33,000 customers for Valentine’s Day promoting photos for gifts and cards.

Here are his results so far.  For the Christmas campaign he has already collected over $23,400; and for his Valentines Day campaign, which is less than a month old, he has already collected over $8,500!  That’s nearly $32,000 of new income just because he followed our suggestion and had learned the value of an email campaign.

One seminar idea that has more than paid for the educational trip he took to a CCS seminar a few years ago.

The photo industry is changing faster than Oklahoma weather and you need to decide what changes you’ll be making to your business in 2012 that will create new revenue streams, while decreasing your workload.  The CCS Winter Seminar is a great place to kick-off the New Year to plan a path for the next 12 months. Perhaps green screen photography could be an addition to your photographic arsenal. Or, maybe you want to learn more about Virtual Groups.  Do you think that every sports team or league has been uncovered in your area? Maybe you just need to discover new methods for old markets!

Consider reasons why you MUST attend the CCS seminar instead of dwelling on all the reasons why you can’t attend. Think of the payoff down the road and consider all the money you’ll be leaving on the table, if you don’t attend.

Places to eat while attending the CCS Winter Seminar in Miami!

Miami has no shortage of things to do and places to eat! When you join us at the CCS winter seminar for hands-on training, networking and lectures that will positively impact your business ….make sure you squeeze in some time for a great meal! There are countless places to eat within walking distance of the Shelborne Hotel, our CCS winter seminar headquarters, or just a short cab ride away. Here are a few suggestions to get you thinking!

Looking for an area with Variety? Visit Lincoln Road! This walking mall area between 16th and 17th streets is lined with great, casual outdoor eating options. You can find almost any cuisine you are interested in on Lincoln Road. This street offers everything from Italian, fast-food Mediterranean, Thai, Japanese, gelato and steaks to the recognized chains of McDonalds and Starbucks. A personal favorite- try Sushi Siam if you are in the mood for a good Thai curry!

Interested in people-watching? Visit Ocean Drive! This Art Deco area, a few blocks south of the Shelborne hotel, is again lined with abundant outdoor eating options. Most of the dining options here are very similar. You will find a lot of Italian and seafood. There are some chain restaurants in the southern end of the street such as Johnnie Rockets. Most of the appeal to this location is the atmosphere. Here are just a few favorites on Ocean Drive:

Want really good sushi? There are a lot of sushi options in this area, but a fun place to try is Shoji Sushi on Collins Ave near 1st street. This small, but stylish Japanese restaurant will not disappoint you. Try the spicy seafood soup!

Want a really good steak? No doubt one of the best restaurants in the area is Prime One Twelve. This restaurant on Ocean Drive near 1st street specializes in steak but has a large array of seafood, sides and salads. This restaurant is pricey, but that is to be expected with its’ outstanding service and occasional celebrity sightings. If you are interested in going here, plan ahead and get a reservation. They will fill up fast. The outdoor seating is very nice and not at all a step down in terms of the service you will receive.  Prime One Twelve also has a dress code that is more formal than most of the restaurants in this area.

Want iconic Miami seafood? Go to Joe’s Stone Crab! This restaurant located on Washington Ave near 1st street is famous for (not a surprise here) stone crabs, but has a variety of seafood on the menu. Going to Joe’s is more of an experience than you will get at most places. This restaurant is ALWAYS packed and seating is first-come, first-served so plan on a substantial wait. Lucky for you, they have a really nice (and large) bar.

Come to Miami to get tips to improve your photo business and to enjoy everything this area has to offer. We could literally provide pages upon pages of dining suggestions. If you are interested in hearing more or want tips on a particular type of food, please let me know. We look forwarding to seeing you!

Winter Seminar Letter

Dear Photographer;

The CCS Annual Seminar in South Beach, Florida is fast approaching. We have chosen South Beach because it is one of the most exciting and fun destinations in the U.S., especially as temperatures hover in the teens in much of the U.S. as I write this letter and will probably be similarly cold at the end of February, when we hold the Seminar.

There are many good reasons for you to attend the seminar.  As we have pointed out in the past, if you come away with one good idea for your business then you will more than pay for the cost of the Seminar.  Of course, we hope to provide you with many more ideas that will help you continue to grow your business.

Today, competition is stiffer in the photography market than at any other time in my memory.  The competition is coming from all directions.  From other businesses that were not previously in our sector, from prosumers who often have as good or better equipment than we do, from more professional photographers than ever before, from organizations doing their own photography, and, finally, from the consumers themselves who own more and better equipment than ever !

As professional photographers, we must provide an ever increasingly higher level of product, service, ease of ordering, and pictures which are difficult or impossible for the consumer to obtain otherwise.  We also must book more business, in most cases, to stay even with last year.

No professional photographer—and we hope none of our customers—can afford to be unaware of the latest trends, marketing methods, products, photography methods and the valuable collective experiences of Candid Color and its customers.  These success and failure stories can direct you to the best practices in the photography industry before your competitors know about it and can offer it.

But most customers already have a lot of knowledge they are not using because of old habits, fear of the unknown, a missing operational detail, or a lack of confidence in the success of a given product, marketing technique, photography methodology or software utilization.

This seminar will feature a number of success stories from customers and about customers (who give us their permission) to inspire you to duplicate their successes.

Even though the economic climate has been less than stellar the last few years, some of our customers have experienced double digit growth.  Wouldn’t you like to know how they did it?

That is the single most important reason for you to leave the day to day environment of your office, shed your winter coat, and head to Miami where you can heat up your business and warm your body at the same time.

We encourage you to make your reservation today. We have a block of rooms reserved at the Shelborne South Beach Resort Hotel www.shelborne.com, but the deadline for reservations is rapidly approaching.  The deadline for reservations is Monday, January 24th.  That is the final day that you will be able to secure a room at the negotiated rate of $209 per night.  The hotel has not granted any extensions especially since we’ll be in Miami Beach at the height of the winter season.

In order to make reservations you need to call Dortha at All About Travel who will be handling all reservations for CCS.  Her phone number is (800)- 880-8517 and her email address is Dortha@allabout-travel.com.  If you are interested in splitting the cost of a room with another CCS customer and sharing the space just let Dortha know when you call to make your reservation.

CCS Winter Seminar in Miami: Have You Made Your Reservations Yet?

The clock is clicking down to the CCS Winter Seminar taking place this year in South Beach, Miami from Monday, February 28th through Wednesday, March 2nd.  Plans are moving forward as we expect a host of CCS customers looking for a chance to recharge their business batteries by spending three days in a warm climate with other special event photographers.

The agenda includes something for everyone beginning on Monday which is the optional training day. This is a great opportunity to review Quicpost and CORE software platforms; learn the basics of Green Screen photography; and to get on board with a new “build your own” website software program offered by CCS.

Tuesday and Wednesday will feature formal presentations from both CCS associates together with some CCS customers that have offered to participate on specific topics.   Topics will include, but are not limited to:

• Sports Market
• Grad Market
• 5 Proven Ways to Improve Sales
• Special Event Photography
• Dance Schools
• Sales and Marketing
• Prom Market
• Appraising and Refurbishing your Website
• Software updates
• Green Screen applications and more.

An expanded and detailed agenda will be published and shared in a matter of days but the topics have already been chosen as the above listed items.

Lastly, we’ll be announcing the CCS Customer of the Year for 2010 along with our other annual awards that bring to light the great job that many of you have done during the past year.

If you’ve never attended a CCS seminar, the cost to attend is FREE as long as you are a CCS customer.  You are welcome to bring a spouse or any of your employees with you.  Besides the expert content of the presentations which provide their own special value, the true value of these meetings is being in the company of others that are in the same business as you.  With the photo industry changing as fast as new camera models being introduced, you need to keep ahead of your competition and anticipate what will happen next!  Software changes and updates, new ways to market your services, and new products are typical of the types of information you can expect to discover at a CCS seminar.
Don’t put off your decision to attend as the hotel deadline will be upon you before you know it. Plus, attending and participating in an event such as this can set the tone in your business for the rest of 2011.  Get motivated, get involved, and get ready to learn—and party—in South Beach!  What a winning combination.

The South Beach Area of Miami is a great Winter Seminar Location!

South Beach is a fantastic place to visit anytime….but especially in the winter! The Shelborne Hotel is located in the ACTUAL  South Beach area. There is no need for a car during your visit. There are countless places to eat, shop, lounge and enjoy yourself within walking distance.

The Shelborne is located near 18th street which is just a few minutes walk from Lincoln Road. This walking mall area between 16th and 17th streets is lined with great outdoor eating, shopping and entertainment options.

A block further south is the turn onto Ocean Drive. This Art Deco area facing the beach is the most iconic area of South Beach. It is, again, lined with abundant outdoor eating and entertainment options.

We will provide some more specific restaurant, club and entertainment suggestions in the coming weeks, but just know that this is an amazing area to go with a great seminar!

We look forward to seeing you soon!
